Senior Data Analyst

We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst, to join Service Control team in Columbia, MD.

Responsibilities:

  • Works as an integral member of the Operations Team in a time-critical production environment.
  • Creates and modifies data models to support financial forecasting and changes in procedures/methodology.
  • Provides short and long-term sample performance reports on multiple metrics.
  • Queries data from complex relational databases for various analyses and/or requests, using Access or SQL.
  • Designs analytical tools using Access, Excel, VBA, and other statistical packages.
  • Conducts high level and strategic analyses to address business and customer issues.
  • These analyses must be written in a manner that is logical and understandable for both internal and external customers.
  • Performs proactive and reactive analyses to ensure data integrity and opportunities for improvements.
  • Detects, troubleshoots, and resolves data or system anomalies in a time-critical environment.
  • Documents processes/procedures for departmental use as well as identifies and implements enhancements.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for desk-drawer software applications and Oracle Production Environment.
  • Serves as lead analyst to develop desk-drawer applications for manual, non-system supported PPM initiatives.
  • Generates high-level statistical analyses that utilize regression analysis, correlations, and other types of statistical modeling.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics, business, or related field required, Graduate degree preferred.
  • Two years experience in at least one of the following fields: statistics, research, business, or economics.
  • Expertise using Access, Excel, VBA, SQL or other relational databases.
  • Strong analytical skills, natural curiosity and problem solving ability.
  • Knowledge of data collection and research methodologies.
  • Demonstrated success and effectiveness working in a time-critical production environment.
  • Aptitude to detect, troubleshoot, and foresee anomalies
  • Outstanding organizational and communication (verbal and written) skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team member intra- and inter-departmentally.
